ICE how to
From S1MP3 Wiki
NOTICE: this article refers to research info that has not yet been worked out to be 100% reliable, or worse that is not yet working.
You can:
- continue at your own risk
- complain (silently)
- join the team and help researching!
The situation
- You have updated your s1mp3 device with a wrong firmware
- You do not get the ADFU server mode and you cannot update again the firmware
- After resetting the device manually, Windows simply tells you that an "USB Device" is connected
See the S1mp3 Trouble-Shooter
The solution
If you have some basical electronic knowledge (or you know someone who has...) you can still recover your device. Basically we will use the ATJ20xx ICE embedded functions to rewrite the core firmware (and the bootloader) and then to revive your s1mp3 device. This is a hard flashing operation if compared to the soft recovery operation done via USB.
If you do not have a JD-ICE interface, build one! It is cheap and enough easy to be built.
With the proper hardware in your hands, install the s1ice tool and first check if everything is ok (see s1ice).
