Talk:S1mp3 Trouble-Shooter

From S1MP3 Wiki

Jump to: navigation, search

This is only currently intended to be a plan for an interactive trouble-shooter.

Once the plan is complete it will be converted to probably a popup window in which a user will click on yes / no answers to the questions and new content will be loaded into the popup window depending on the answer they gave to the previous question.

The popup window will ideally have maximum cross-browser compatibility.

For users with older or incompatible browsers, this plan can remain here for reference and will contain links to jump from page to page and also to external resources.

I think this is enought ... if people CAN'T read but write only inconsistent support requests, it's not our problem ... You've made an exelent work! Congratulations!! Also - why does it continue on another page ?? It's okay to have a long page! ;) I think it's even better! --Wladston 07:49, 24 January 2006 (CST)

I do perfectly agree, please complete it, I am already cross-linking the page with other wiki pages (--Legolas558 17:51, 24 January 2006 (CST))

It's just a question of running out of space that it goes to the next page ... I suppose the lines could go down and then across then down again ... I'll see what it looks like ;) --JedOi 21:20, 24 January 2006 (CST)

I think the current way is exellent! :) Contratulations for the nice work! --Wladston 10:32, 25 January 2006 (CST)

Finished ?

Ok, I think that's all of it ... anyone see anything major missing ? --JedOi

Hum ... By now I think it's good!--Wladston 07:51, 15 February 2006 (CST)

Pop-Up version

I'm converting the flow chart to a pop-up html version which will be contained within a window approx 600px wide by 200px high. Wladston can (if pop-up version is utilized) amend it as necessary should any glaringly obvious logic errors or additional information come to light later on. --JedOi

Okay! After you make a start, when I'm in home, I can make a custom php script to allow us to automatically generate and modify such data, that will be driven through a database. I think it won't be too hard...--Wladston 07:50, 15 February 2006 (CST)

Wouldn't something like the DSLinux page be better? Information Trail WP 02:34, 22 February 2006 (CST)

WP, how exactly ? Hav'nt seen any trouble-shooter on DSLinux;;; Our aim is to make the users READ the docs and ask only after reading it ...--Wladston 12:19, 22 February 2006 (CST)

I think that style might be OK if we had a perfectly linear trouble-shooter but we have quite a few lateral branches and the pop-up version as it stands keeps everything except for external links (which open in new windows (target="_blank")) inside one nicely sized and centred pop-up window which remains on screen after they've viewed relevant info pages ... thanks for pointing that style of trouble-shooter out though WP, would save page-loads on certain types of trouble-shooters or similar documents :) --JedOi
